How It Works
What We Do
Quicktate uses live professional transcribers to convert audio notes, to-do lists, medical reports, conference calls, legal files, voicemail messages, and more to text. We accept both short and long files.
We currently transcribe English and Spanish files and will be adding new languages based on customer demand.
Creating Audio Notes
There are several ways to create audio notes. The following are just a few examples:
- Evernote apps (iPhone , iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, Mac)
-
Telephone - by calling (888) 222-NOTE
- Be sure to enter the phone numbers you will be calling from in your Profile settings
- Create a phone PIN in Profile settings
- Email an audio file to your Evernote account (We accept many, but not all audio formats)
- Other smart phone apps - Email audio notes directly to your Evernote address
How it works
To start using Quicktate, first create an account. You will automatically receive a $5.00 account credit so you can essentially test the service for free. As part of setting up your account, you'll be asked to authorize Quicktate to electronically access your Evernote account (no one at Quicktate can actually log in to your Evernote account). After you've linked your account, anytime you create an audio recording in Evernote, the audio will be sent to Quicktate for transcription, and the transcribed text will go straight back into your Evernote account, right beneath the audio file. If you need an old note transcribed, please let us know and we will show you how to do this.
What if I dictate a new audio note and I don't want it transcribed?
If you don't want a particular note transcribed, you MUST tag that audio note with "NOQT" (a) BEFORE you record it, and (b) BEFORE you move an audio note to a new folder. Otherwise it will be transcribed and you will be charged.
What If My Audio Doesn't Get Transcribed?
If your transcription doesn't appear in Evernote in a reasonable period of time, log in to your Quicktate account to make sure your connection to Evernote is "Enabled" (your Profile page). If Evernote is enabled, check to see if your file is being typed or is completed (your Transcripts page). If neither, then email your Note from Evernote back to your Evernote email address, creating a new note.
Saving Files in Quicktate
Quicktate saves a copy of your transcript in your Quicktate account, along with the
word count for that file, and the total word count for all your files, grouped by month.
Quicktate does not save a copy of your audio notes if they originate in your Evernote
account.
Transcribing your voice mail messages into readable text right in Evernote
Many phone and unified messaging service providers offer "voicemail to email" service. If yours does, log into your voicemail account and edit the email destination where your voicemail files are being sent. Enter your Evernote email address as the default destination, and select mp3 as your preferred file type. You only need to do this once.
When you receive a voice mail message, it will automatically be sent to Evernote as an audio note and will then be transcribed by Quicktate, with the text going straight back into your Evernote account, right beneath the audio file. Due to the frequent urgency of voice mail messages, Quicktate will also email you a copy of the transcript.
Your transcribed voice mail messages can now be easily searched and accessed from anywhere you have Evernote installed.
